Iron Frontier drops you on a frozen outpost with a handful of workers and a dwindling heat supply. Every decision has a cost: send people to mine and they freeze faster, keep them warm and your resources stall. It's a tight loop of balancing survival against expansion.
The campaign scenarios each introduce a new wrinkle — storms, equipment failures, a sudden influx of refugees to house. We played several maps in short bursts and found it works well as a pick-up-and-think game. Everything saves locally and there's no online component at all.
It can be punishing early on until you learn the rhythm, but the difficulty curve is fair. A great choice if you like strategy that makes you sweat a little.
